Problem Solving
A big part of any STEM field is problem solving. There are so many problems in the world that can be solved through innovations in STEM fields. We try to teach our students how to problem solve. We encourage them to fully define the problem at hand and identify the affected group in order to come up with the best solution.
Prototyping
Once the students have identified the problem, it is time to develop a solution. Through brainstorming with their peers, students are able to come up with various design solutions to choose from and are able to modify them in order to end up with the best solution. At this point, the students begin to prototype the CAD design of their new solutions!
3D Printing
Of course the final step in our process is to 3D print the students' designs. This step is important for our students because it allows them to see their parts come to life. They get to physically hold a part that they have designed and see how it works for the problem which they were solving!
